Marco Antonio Solis
Marco Antonio Solis was born in Mexico on December 29th, 1959. He is a very well known Grammy winner musician, composer and record producer. He started in the music industry at the age of 6. In the mid-1970s he formed a group named “Los Bukis” where he was the lead singer and songwriter. As lead singer and songwriter of Los Bukis, he became known in the industry for outside writing and producing for popular singers such as Marisela and Rocío Dúrcal. “In the spring of 1986 Marco Antonio Solis accomplished his greatest work up to date. With the album "Me Volvi Acordar De Ti", Marco and 'Los Bukis' obtained a diamond record for surpassing one and a half million copies sold, a first in the history of the recording industry in Mexico. In 1996, he decided to leave his group and become a solo artist. That year alone was proving to be a momentous year for Solis. “ In June of '96 the much anticipated album, "En Pleno Vuelo" was released to the public. On its release date the album sold 500,000 copies, it became an instant success, posting three singles in the #1 slot of the Billboard Latin charts. The first single "Que Pena Me Das" debuted at the number one spot of the charts. The album was nominated for the Grammy award later that year in the Pop Latino category.” (buki.stormloader). As a solo artist, Solis has been very successful and popular in Mexico, Spain, Latin America and United States. He has had 30 entries on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks.
Marco Antonio Solis continues to be a “sought-after record producer, having worked with Olga Tañón, Ana Bárbara, and most recently Enrique Iglesias and Anaís, among others. On August 5, 2010 Marco Antonio Solís received his star on the Hollywood walk of fame.” (starpulse). He is currently one of the most influential coach in a Mexican TV show called, “La Voz de Mexico”, the show is similar to the show in the US called “ The Voice”. When he is spoken about in the show or in the new they say he is, “the most influential singer-songwriter of Latino music in the world."
